So you’ve reached that stage, one of the most important investments you’ll make for your wedding day, choosing your photographer.

I can tell you with certainty that your wedding day will fly by way too quickly. When you reach that post-celebration bliss, and you’re reminiscing on how perfect your day was, you’ll instantly realise just how important this decision was. A great photographer will allow you to be fully present on your wedding day, and will give you the ability to relive these precious moments in vivid detail, over and over again.

Here’s the thing, there are a load of us out there, and all of this choice can make the decision a really tough one, but as long as you’ve ticked off these three boxes, I have no doubt you’ll pick the right photographer for you.

1. Editing style

Immerse yourself in portfolios and blog posts and get a feel for each photographer’s editing style. Are you a light and airy kind of person or more of a dark and moody kind of person? Somewhere in between? It’s important to find a photographer whose editing style is one that you are naturally drawn to, as your precious images will be painted with the same brush.

2. CONNECTION

This can be tough to gauge by simply browsing online, so I’d recommend scheduling in a video consultation (or even better, an in-person coffee). Really what you’re looking for here is whether you gel with your photographer. You’ll be spending a lot of time together on your wedding day and you’ll want to feel comfortable and content. Go with your gut!

3. Trust

You’re letting this stranger into your most vulnerable moments on your wedding day. You’re going to want to make sure they grasp the magnitude of the occasion and are going to immerse themselves in those deep feels, yet are also going to add an air of fun and joy. You want someone who is dependable and communicates candidly.
